2025 Restoration in Review

We recently published our annual report for 2025, and here are some of the highlights of what we were able to accomplish in the past year:

  • Planted over a quarter of a million locally grown oysters in Massachusetts’ coastal waters

  • Reclaimed 70,000 pounds of oyster shell that will go toward reef restoration instead of sitting in a landfill

  • Expanded our upweller program to six active upwellers, increasing local oyster production capacity and supporting both new and existing reef sites

  • Launched year-round shell recycling on the South Shore, partnering with Scarlett Oak Tavern through the Webber Restaurant Group

  • Established a new planting location in Ipswich, making meaningful progress toward long-term restoration in Plum Island Sound

  • Continued reef rebuilding in Yarmouth’s Bass River, restoring habitat at an existing site and reinforcing ecological resilience in a priority estuary
